Capital Pacific hosts thought leadership presentation at the Monterey ICSC on March 7th, at the Portola Hotel & Spa.
Introduced by Capital Pacific’s Chris Kostanecki and presented by Jeff Roster, VP of Retail Strategy at IHL Group, Debunking the Retail Apocalypse offered a unique perspective on the ever-evolving retail industry.
Through hard data and specific case studies, Jeff made the case that despite the negative headlines, physical retail is undergoing a necessary and healthy transition.Far from a retail apocalypse, retail is in the midst of a renaissance driven by evolving consumer behavior and tastes, technology, and the interplay of a multi-channel experience. Jeff and his team recognize the simple fact that people no longer have to shop in a store, they have to want to shop in a store. Retailers who embrace this new reality will survive and thrive (and need bricks and mortar to do so), and those that don’t will fall by the wayside. In Jeff’s own words “…retail is capitalism and capitalism has worked every time that it has tried.”
The event was followed by a cocktail reception, which offered attendees the opportunity to chat one on one with Jeff and the Capital Pacific team.
